Gullegem and Zonhoven

Gullegem and Zonhoven would mark the end to the Kerstperiode for the team. All three of us took on the deep mud in Gullegem while Scott doubled up with the sand in Zonhoven. Gullegem delivered a slow race with deep mud slogging and running. Kaya and I had the goal of getting back on track after a rough first two races here in Europe. Kaya was the first to go and got off to a good start fighting close to the top 10 through the first mud pits and into the whoops section. She then settled into her rhythm and was able to have good sensations through the heavy course. She ended up in 26th. Scott and I were up next and lined up next to each other in the start grid. Scott had a good launch into the first turn and mudpit while I got caught up a bit in the first corner mayhem. Scott was able to keep battling towards the front of the field for the rest of the day. He was fighting for the last spot in the top 10 all the way until the finish line but came up just short in 11th, a very solid day out for him. I had a better day than my past races and after struggling a bit in the opening laps to find a good rhythm on course I was able to piece things together to put in some laps and effort I felt good about, ending up in 32nd.

For Zonhoven the temperatures dropped overnight making it a cold race day to take on De Kuil. The spectators came out in their thousands to watch the riders take on this famous, fast, and technical course. Scott didn't have his best legs on the day but was still able to finish 36th.

Now we've all made it to Calp, Spain for some training and sun before the Benidorm World Cup.
