A Really Rad Weekend

And thats a rap on the 2023 USCX Series. The last round held in Falmouth, Massachusetts for the Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross. The team had a super fun weekend!

We flew into Boston on Thursday evening and on Friday morning we hung out, talked, and ate breakfast while Jules completed a Midterm and Sid and I worked on some school assignments. Late afternoon we headed to the course for pre ride, we got Chris to stop wrenching and get out to find some lines and rip a couple of laps which was so much fun! The course was a perfect mixture of fast and flowy but it also had some technical bits with sand and roots.

This season our team has had the amazing opportunity to be in the same space with Maghalie Rochette and David Gagnon. A couple of weeks prior in Waterloo for the World Cup Maghs asked me to create a design for her helmet. So I went home and got working with the paint pens. On Friday in Falmouth, I brought it out of the backpack to show her. It was something really cool for me because I look up and take everything in from someone like her so that was a really fun opportunity! Catch the photos and some more information on our Instagram pages!

So on Saturday the sun was blazing and the Elite Women went off first. Sid had an awesome day coming in 3rd place. She had a really clean race, and just shy of second place she knew what to change for the next days race. I finished in 7th place after riding alone for quite a few laps also knowing what needed to be done for Sunday. In the Elite mens field Jules had the ride of the year so far! Coming in 2nd place, winning his sprint finish and overall crushing the day.

Sunday morning the rain came down which made the team excited for a little bit of change. Sid and I both started the race on our Flandrien Challenge Tires and quickly changed to the full muds after the first couple corners where people were falling all over. Sid had an awesome start and held that to the finish line coming in 2nd and finishing the series in 3rd. I was in the mix for about half the race sitting in 4th slot until I had a hard slam into the mud which left me running for a long while. I finished last place, but held onto 6th in the overall. Jules hit the first corner in a big bunch and went over the bars into the mud as well, leaving a long day of chasing. He chased himself into 7th place leaving him 4th in the overall.

Although day 2 left us with some bruises and sore muscles we are all stoked on the weekend and can't wait to get back after it, next week in Montana for Pan American Championships.
